Recognizing Prof. Shinobu Yamaguchi ‘s continuous contributions in Mongolian education sector since early 1990s, the Decree of the President of Mongolia, the state Supreme Award “Polar Star” was handed by Mr.L.Gantumur, the Minister of Education, Culture and Science on September, 2014.
Prof. Yamaguchi and Tokyo Tech team have been implementing the JICA funded project “the sustainable use of ICT for improving the quality of education in rural Mongolia” together with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (MECS) and Mongolian State University of Education since 2012. It aims to support the professional development of school teachers,employing diverse JCT tools into teacher training at local level through grassroots involvement of entire 21 provinces and city of Ulaanbaatar.
Prior to this proj ect, Prof. Yamaguchi have involved in various educational development inMongolia. These includes: the development of the Human Resource and Education Master Plans,training needs assessments for educational administrators and teachers, higher education refonnas well as several research on rural school development.
On her award ceremony at MECS, Prof. Masuo Aizawa, the Counselor to the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and Prof. Jun-ichi Takada from Tokyo Tech as well as the representatives of Mongolian State University of Education and JICA project Steering Committee members attended to congratulate Prof. Yamaguchi.
Prof. Yamaguchi was awarded the title of “Honorable Education Medal” in 2012 and was proclaimed as honorary citizen of Bayankhongor province.
