From 7th March to 23th March in 2017, Yu Hironari (M2) conducted fieldwork at the office of Department of World Heritage (DPL) in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. This was the fourth time for Yu to stay in Luang Prabang. This fieldwork includes the following major activities: 1) training on drone operation and recording for DPL staff members and 2) field survey in ZPP-UB of main heritage zone for update of Heritage Preservation and Development Master Plan (PSMV) as help for DPL’s daily work
1. Training on drone operation and recording for DPL staff members:
The training on drone operation and recording was provided for DPL staff members from 13th March to 17th March for five days. The participants are two people from ICT team and one person from Authorization unit staff. Yu found DPL staff members were very curious about new technologies and finally they could take a video of riverbank landscape and improved recording data by themselves. From this, Yu thinks that to have curiosity is important for learning some things.
2. Field survey in ZPP-UB zone:
Field survey in ZPP-UB of main heritage zone was conducted from 9th March to 21th March for 13 days as help for DPL’s daily work. The objective of the survey is to collect information for update of Heritage Preservation and Development Master Plan (PSMV). Specifically, aerial videos were taken by drone to collect information about roof style of buildings and houses.
