This was the second fieldwork and objectives were given as a result of the first fieldwork. The objectives of this fieldwork are 1) Visualization of the changes ponds and wetlands in ZPP-N; 2) Analysis of the changes of ponds and wetlands; 3) Assistance of the work of ICT section; 4) To discuss the result of data analysis and get orientation for further study

During the first half of the fieldwork, Ishihara worked on the digitalization of existing data of ponds and wetlands. Ishihara inputted the data such as pond’s surface, name of owner, location, and usages into Geographic Information System (GIS). Preparation of data input for the collected data of ponds and wetlands were done as well. This was the first time to collect data on ponds and wetlands since heritage management and development guidelines issued. To make sure the persistence of the data collection format, a number of discussions had done with local experts.

Ishihara also conducted the following activities as work of ICT staff; 1) Environment set up for database; 2) Update of the manuals with regarding installation of CentOS; 3) Upgrade of PC in ICT for the practice of virtual machine operation.

Simultaneously, Ishihara kept visiting ponds and wetlands with local experts in Luang Prabang to understand the pond’s condition further. During the second half of the fieldwork, Ishihara conducted confirmation of the inputted data in GIS with local experts and visualization of the data of ponds in 2001 and 2019. Because of the limitation of the duration of fieldwork, Ishihara couldn’t hold a workshop to report the result of data analysis to local experts and suggestion of the next step of the survey.
