アジア太平洋
  1. Managing Intangible Heritage of Small Islands with FOSS Database (2017-2018: 30,000 USD)
  2. Development of Participatory Database and Comparative Analysis on 21stCentury Skills in Educational Policies in 10 Countries in Asia: (2014-2016): 350,000 USD: In collaboration with UNESCO Regional Office for Education and UNESCO Regional Office for Science, conducted comparative analysis of 10 countries regarding 21stCentury skills in education policies and practices.Produced synthesis report with skills mapping identifying similarities and differences among 10 countries. Funded by Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT).
  3. Research on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in basic education in Asia (2009-2011): 40,000 USD. Analysis on use of FOSS in schools and educational management is conducted to identify factors to evaluate feasibility and sustainability. Cases of Mongolia, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia are used for evaluation. Funded by Japan Society of Promotion of Science (JSPS).

  1. Interactive Teacher Training Materials Development for Basic Education in Mongolia (2017-2018): 60,000 USD. Project covered four components: 1) development of teacher training VCD in four subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry, History and Social Science, Arts and Technology); 2) production of teachers’ guideline; 3) development and evaluation of interactive teacher training; 4) organization of teacher training in two provinces, and Ulaanbaatar. Funded by Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT).
  2. Application of Free and Open Source Software in developing countries (2012-2014): 35,000USD. Studied, tested and implemented potential FOSS for developing teaching materials for basic education using ICT. Worked with three provinces and capital city in Mongolia for its implementation. Funded by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS).
  3. Development of Teacher Training Materials using ICT in Mongolia (2010-2012): 400,000 USD. Project covered four components: 1) development of teacher training VCD in six subjects (Mongolian Language, Mathematics, Man and Environment, Man and Society, Communication, Arts and Technology); 2) analysis on ICT policy of Mongolia 1996-2010; 3) evaluation of web-based teacher training; 4) Organization of teacher training in three provinces, and Ulaanbaatar. Funded by Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT).
  4. Training Needs Assessment for School Principals in Mongolia (2008): 50,000 USD. In collaboration with UNESCO Beijing, participated in training needs assessment, covering 30% of entire primary and secondary schools. Funded by UNESCO Beijing.
  5. Sustainability analysis on educational development projects in Mongolia (2007): 85,000 USD. Under the assistance of Asia/Pacific Cultural Center for UNESCO, conducted field study in Bayankhongor and Zavkhan aimags on sustainability of educational development project in Mongolia.
  6. UN Human Security Funds (UNHSF) project “Rehabilitation of Boarding Schools and Provision of Refresher Training Course for Headmasters and Teachers in the Dzud affected Gobi Desert Provinces in Mongolia”(2004-2007). 100,000 USD (sub-contract from UNESCO). Conducted feasibility study for introducing distance learning materials for training of school principals and teachers in rural Mongolia, in collaboration with UNESCO Beijing office and UNCEF. Produced VCD training materials (12 subjects), radio programs (6 subjects) and guidelines for teachers and school principals with Mongolian State University of Education.
  7. Training Needs Assessment for Educational Administrators in Mongolia (1993): Conducted needs assessment for training for educational administrators for central, aimag and school level. Based on the result of needs assessment, training modules were planned and implemented in collaboration with UNESCO and Australian International Development Agency (AusAID).
  8. Master Plan for Education and Human Resources Sectors (1993-1994): Under the assistance of Asian Development Bank, as an Education Program Office of UNESCO, participated in the first phase of Master Plan for Education and Human Resources Sectors in Mongolia.

 

ラオス
  1. Study on Mobile Learning Behavior on University Students in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. (2011-2016): 120,000 USD. Investigated, identified and developed mobile learning application to raise awareness of preservation among residents in world heritage site of Luang Prabang. Application was launched in October, 2014. Co-organizedwith Department of World Heritage, Luang Prabang Lao PDR. Funded by Japan Society for Promoting of Science (JSPS).
  2. GIS Use to Monitor Change in Landscape of Luang Prabang, (2009-2011): 150,000 USD. Study and development of Geographical Information System (GIS) prototype to evaluate landscape changed in the world heritage site of Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. Conducted human resources development at the Department of World Heritage. Training to develop base map and prototype has been provided to local ICT team. Japan Society of Promotion of Science (JSPS).
  3. Application of ICT to promote regional development in world heritage sites in Lao PDR. (2003-2007): 350,000 USD. In collaboration with Ministry of Information and Culture and UNESCO World Heritage Center, establish ICT center to promote ICT use in the world heritage site of Luang Prabang in Laos. Based on feasibility study, heritage database was created with training of local engineers using free and open software to promote local tourism and involvement of local communities to preserve heritage sites. 53-weeks of training was planned and conducted in local sites. Funded by Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS).
  4. Investigation and Application of Integrated Conservation Approach (2003-2005): 85,000 USD. In collaboration with UNESCO Bangkok, took a study on Integrated Conservation Approach in Italy and Japan. Compared challenges faced by two world heritage sites of Shirakawa-go (Japan) and Alberobello (Italy). Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS).

 

中国
  1. Application of ICT and World Heritage and Regional Development in China (2006-2007):Participating in collaboration research and project to develop sustainable preservation and development plan for the world heritage sites in China.  Conducted study on Integrated Conservation Approach of World Heritage Sites by introducing ICT technologies.
  2. Training for teachers and school administrators in rural China (1993-1996): In charge of educational training project for school administrators and teachers of primary and secondary schools in China, in collaboration of Jiangsu Provincial Research Institute. Developed distance learning materials for training of teachers to promote the quality of rural schools.
  3. Project for promoting community participation to improve school quality in Gansu Province of China (1995).
  4. Decentralization of Higher Education of China (1991-1993): To promote decentralization of higher education in China, conducted training program for university administrators in five regions of China. Joint field assessment and monitoring took place with Ministry of Education of China to apply local conditions into regionalized training program to raise quality of research and education as well as management of higher education.
  5. Educational Finance in decentralized system (1993): Conducted joint field study with Shanghai HRD Institute in the area of educational finance in newly decentralized education system in rural China (primary and secondary schools).

  1. Educational Policy and Management with Community Participation (1991-1993): To promote basic education in rural region of Indonesia, community participation was introduced in 5 different regions, catering the needs of local communities, reflecting social, cultural and religious differences. Monitoring and evaluation took place regularly to re-direct the project activities.

 

パキスタン
  1. Promotion of girls’ education in Pakistan (1994): In line with decentralization of education in Pakistan, the project promoted girls’ access to basic education, with involvement of community leaders and women’s association.
  2. Educational Management and Planning (1991-1993): Conducted assessment study to plan and implement training program of educational leadership and management.Training programs were established both for educational administrators and school teachers to promote decentralization of educational activities.

 

ルワンダ
  1. Rehabilitation of Education in Rwanda (1993-1994): Planned and fundraised non-formal educational package program in collaboration with German NGO in post-conflict country of Rwanda. Emergency educational package was produced and distributed in Kigali, Rwanda.

 

タジキスタン/アルメニア
  1. Promotion of basic education in new market-oriented economy (1993): In collaboration with German and Belgium NGO, planned and implemented promoting of basic education in Tajikistan and Armenia.

 

セネガル
  1. Promoting girls’ education in primary education(1992-1993): In collaboration with UNESCO African regional office (Dakar), organized African Ministerial Conference in Education and Economics. Further promotion of girls’ education in Africa was emphasized.

 

B.モンゴル
  1. Improving Quality of Education for Lower Secondary School Teachers Focusing on STEM subjects (2018-present): 1 million USD, GrassrootsPartnership project aiming at skills development of teachers at lower secondary schools in rural Mongolia. Development of teacher training materials of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
  2. Grassroots Partnership Project on Development of ICT Teacher Training Programs in Mongolia (2012-2017) 1 million USD, In collaboration with Mongolian State University of Education and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, develop ICT-assisted teacher training materials in 8 subject areas with 30 topics. Developed materials are distributed to 765 schools in Mongolia, Development Assistance with Grassroots Partnership, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
  3. Fast Track Initiatives (FTI)-ICT Monitoring and Evaluation (2007-2008): 200,000 USD, FIT project in Mongolia conducted training on ICT use in primary schools in Mongolia. Monitoring and evaluation was conducted covering 800 teachers (for written questionnaires) and with monitoring visits to five provinces (Selenge, Bayankhongor, Zavkhan, Bayan-Ulgi, Omunogobi) and Ulaanbaatar. Funded by the World Bank Caritas foundation.

 

C.中国
  1. Monitoring and Evaluation of Japanese ODA Projects (2001-2002): 60,000USD. As an external evaluation expert of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, conducted field evaluation of Japanese ODA projects in China, in particular, in the areas of education and medical services. Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
